How to log Training and Events

An overview of how Rescue Hub tracks training — events vs. tasks

Rescue Hub tracks two kinds of training: events and tasks.

Events vs. tasks

  • Event — An event is anything that is scheduled for a specific day, time, and location (e.g. Tuesday 3:00 PM at Station 3, or your weekly drill night).

  • Task — Is an activity with a due date. You decide when to complete it. Most company-level training and EMS training with an online component is delivered as a task.

Recording attendance for an event (Company Officer)

Whether COs record attendance depends on how your department uses Rescue Hub — sometimes it's the instructor's job. If recording falls to you:

  1. Find the event on the calendar and click it.

  2. Click Roster My Crew.

  3. Type the names of everyone who attended. Don't forget your own name if you were there.

  4. Click Save.

If someone shows up late, come back, click Roster My Crew again, and add their name.

My Assigned Training page

This is your one-stop view of everything assigned to you and whether it's complete.

  • Top of the page — upcoming events you're invited to.

  • Right column — incomplete tasks assigned to you.

  • Below that — your training requirements.

Requirements, tasks, and events

A requirement is anything your training officer requires of you — a department standard, an NFPA standard, a county/city EMS requirement, etc. Requirements are met by attending an event or completing a task.

  • Red X next to a requirement = not yet complete.

  • Green check = complete.

Each requirement lists the events and tasks that satisfy it (events on the left, tasks on the right). When you attend a related event or complete a related task, the requirement flips to a green check.

Completing tasks

As a Company Officer — Roster My Crew

The easiest way to mark a task complete for your crew is to click Roster My Crew next to the requirement, enter the names of everyone who completed the training, and submit.

As a firefighter, EMT, or paramedic — self-certify tasks

You may not see Roster My Crew, but you can still check off tasks yourself. Most tasks are self-certify:

  1. Open the task and read the instructions from your training officer.

  2. Perform the training — watch the video, read the material, or do the hands-on activity with your crew.

  3. At the bottom, check I did this and click Submit.

This records the task as completed today. To log a different completion date, check the date box and choose another day before submitting.

Tasks with a quiz

Some tasks include a quiz. Review the training material first (instructions vary by task), then click the quiz button. If your score is high enough, the task is marked complete automatically.

Logging training that wasn't assigned (Company Events)

If your crew does training that isn't on the calendar and isn't on My Assigned Training — for example, an hour of ground ladder work that the CO decided to run that day — log it as a company event:

  1. Click Home to go to the calendar.

  2. Click New Company Event.

  3. Enter the details of what you did.

  4. Click Create.

Quick reference

  • My Assigned Training — your one-stop status page. Red X = incomplete, green check = done.

  • Roster My Crew (CO) — records attendance for events and completion for tasks on behalf of your crew.

  • Self-certify task — open the task, check "I did this," and submit.

  • Company event — log unassigned training you and your crew completed.
