Departments and groups
How departments, hierarchy, shifts, stations, and memberships fit together.
Go to Groups. Departments represent your groups and can form a hierarchy. They may be tied to shifts or stations/locations, and memberships connect users to a department, role, rank, and start/end dates.
Users with the Manage Users permission can create, edit, move, and remove staff in departments. Anyone with organization access can generally view the department index.
Setting up groups: Groups are hierarchical and should mirror your chain of command. To add one, go to Groups > New Group. In Parent Group, pick where it fits (choose Top Level for a top-level group). If it's a shift or station, pick it from the Shift / Station / Group list; otherwise type the name in Group Name. Use Create and Add Another for several at once, or Create. You can also make groups outside your chain of command β e.g. all Hazmat Technicians or all Paramedics across shifts β to assign requirements or message them.
